Silversmiths in Surin, northeastern Thailand use simple tools to create distinctive beads from pure silver. The decorative patterns are hand-etched onto the surface of each bead. This painstaking intricate process, from the centuries-old Khmer Angkor kingdom , survives in only one small community. These earrings with tiny silver leaves dangling from the bottom are accented with colored quartz chips and blue pearls and are mounted on silver findings. The earrings are 2.5 inches long and they make the perfect jewelry set with the necklace.
